Dr. Umang Mathur
Dr. Umang Mathur is the executive director at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) in New Delhi. Following his residency in ophthalmology, he completed his fellowship in cornea and anterior segment at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad.
He has also trained more than 200 long-term and short-term fellows in cornea, anterior segment pathology and cataract surgery.
Dr. Mathur has been associated with SCEH for more than 20 years and has contributed to improving and implementing quality eye care systems for the hospital. He specializes in cornea, cataract and LASIK surgery practices and is interested in community ophthalmology and the development of human resources for eye care.
Dr. Mathur is an accomplished ophthalmologic surgeon and has even performed cataract surgery on the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He also founded the Eye Bank at SCEH, which is today among the leading eye banks in North India.
And Dr. Mathur has published work in several peer-reviewed journals and actively participates in national and international ophthalmology conferences.
