Arthur B. Epstein, OD, FAAO, Contributor & Content Reviewer

Arthur Epstein, OD, FAAO, FABCO, FBCLA, DPNAP is a native New Yorker who grew up in the Bronx, later moving to Great Neck on Long Island. He graduated from the City College of New York (CUNY) with a B.S. in psychology and received an O.D. degree from the State University of New York, State College of Optometry where he also was the college's first resident in ocular disease.

He is a founding partner of North Shore Contact Lens & Vision Consultants, P.C., a referral-based contact lens specialty and primary eye care practice on Long Island.

After relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Epstein co-founded Phoenix Eye Care, PLLC with his wife, Dr. Shannon Steinhäuser. Dr. Epstein heads the practice's Dry Eye - Ocular Surface Disease Center and serves as its director of clinical research.

Dr. Epstein is a prolific author who has published many hundreds of articles, scientific papers and book chapters. He is a contributing editor for Review of Optometry and executive editor of Review of Cornea and Contact Lenses. He founded and serves as chief medical editor of Optometric Physician, the first e-journal in optometry. Dr. Epstein is also a reviewer for numerous clinical and scientific journals.

A sought-after speaker, Dr. Epstein has presented more than 1,000 invited lectures on a variety of eye care topics in the United States and throughout the world. He serves on the U.S. National Committee for worldwide eye care organization Optometry Giving Sight.
