Pravin Dugel, MD
A well-known retinal specialist, Dr. Dugel is managing partner at Retinal Consultants of Arizona and a founding member of Spectra Eye Institute. He is also clinical professor, USC Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine, at the University of Southern California. He has authored more than 200 papers and 35 book chapters and serves on the editorial board of several major medical journals.
Dr. Dugel graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University in New York and attended UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at USC Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine. He then completed his medical retina fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and his surgical retina fellowship at USC Eye Institute, where he was elected to serve on the faculty as the resident director.
He was named chairman of the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2015 Retina Subspecialty Day and was elected to the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Retina Society and the Macula Society. He has served as president of the Phoenix Ophthalmology Society and is on the board of directors of the Arizona Ophthalmology Society.
He is internationally recognized as a clinical researcher, having been a primary investigator in more than 50 multi-center clinical trials. His research and educational contributions have earned him the Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Since 1994, Dr. Dugel has been a member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agency, providing eye care services to Native American peoples.
